Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs has invited H.M. King Frederik X and H.M. Queen Mary of Denmark for a state visit to Latvia on 28–29 October 2025.
Denmark and Latvia share close cooperation in NATO, the EU, and the UN. Denmark supports Latvia’s defense through its role in Multinational Division North and its rotating combat battalion at Camp Valdemar.
This visit reaffirms the strong and historic ties between the two nations, built on shared values and a commitment to a secure, prosperous Europe. It will also honor Danish troops, highlight cultural collaboration, and underscore joint support for Ukraine.
Diplomatic relations began in 1921, and Denmark was among the first to re-establish ties in 1991 after Latvia regained independence.
