Pan-Baltic Gencs Valters Law Firm, with offices in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, held together with their partners from USA seminar How to do Business in the United States of America. Seminar has been held 19 September 2012 in Radisson Blu Ridzene Hotel, Riga.
Representatives of Frost Brown Todd LLC from Cincinnati, Ohio presented their views on entrepreneurship relations between US and Latvia. Attorney Joseph Dehner spoke about possibilities for Latvian companies to enter the highly-competitive US market via strategic alliances and attorney Susan Grogan Faller spoke about costs of litigation in US. Two lawyers practicing law for more than 70 years combined provided valuable information about every day reality of business in US.

The 1st Nordic Go-Kart Championship in Latvia took place on August 17 at the Sports Complex "333" gathering 26 participants. This event gave nothing else just positive emotions and adrenaline for a while. The participants were mainly from the Finnish and Danish Chambers of Commerce in Latvia.
All participants were driving 3 times - approximately 7 laps (1200m/lap) each time. We started with warm-up, followed by the qualification and finished with a final.
The winner of this Championship became Pekka Mykkanen, Chairman of the Board, FCCL with a total time of 8:53.764 for the final;

RIGA, Feb 23 (LETA) - Saeima today passed in the final reading amendments to the Administrative Violations Code, introducing fines for violations in residents' declarations of their property status.
The amendments stipulate that fines of up to LVL 250 will apply to residents who fail to submit their property status declarations, fill out the declarations incorrectly or fail to declare part of their properties or savings.

VILNIUS, Feb 8 (LETA) - NATO has extended the alliance's patrol of Baltic airspace until 2018, Lithuanian Radio reported on Wednesday. The current mandate of the patrol mission is in force until the end of 2014.
NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen is satisfied with the decision made by the alliance.
''This mission confirms the alliance's commitment towards collective defense and solidarity,'' Rasmussen emphasized.

RIGA, Jan 31 (LETA) - The government today approved the Finance Ministry's procedure for the declaration of cash savings by private individuals, whereby person who have such cash savings will have to transfer them to their accounts in commercial banks.
The regulations stipulate that this will have to be done by 12 midnight on June 1 this year.
The law on private individuals' declarations of financial circumstances, which came into force December 15 last year, stipulates that residents will have to declare cash savings worth more than LVL 10,000, in lats or foreign currencies, which they will have to pay into their bank accounts. For officials, the minimum limit is LVL 4,000.

RIGA, Jan 13 (NOZARE.LV) - For successful implementation of the high-speed railroad project "Rail Baltica," it is of utmost importance that an 85 percent co-funding be secured from the European Union, and this is entirely feasible, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis (Unity) and European Commission Deputy Chairman and Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas announced during a joint press conference today.
Dombrovskis explained that the co-funding is an important precondition for implementation of "Rail Baltica". The prime minister also emphasized that it is necessary to improve "Rail Baltica's" provisional offer by connecting the Riga Airport with the city's port.

RIGA, Dec 29 (NOZARE.LV) - The Riga Airport will still remain the least expensive airport in the region, even though its new security fees, which will be introduced on January 1, are among the region's highest, the airport's board member Aldis Murnieks announced during a press conference today.
"The Riga Airport is not concerned about losing its positions, since it still is the region's least expensive airport: the other fees charged by the airport are small," explained Murnieks.
